Canada – Lotto649 Information

Lotto 6/49 is one of two national lottery games in Canada. It was launched on June 12, 1982 and it was considered to be the first nationwide Canadian lottery game that allows players to choose their own numbers. Other national games such as the Lotto Canada, Superlotto, and Olympic Lottery used pre-printed numbers on tickets while Lotto 6/49 was the one that led the change and gradual phase-out of that type of lottery game in Canada.

ABOUT LOTTO 649

Lotto 649 is played all over Canada. The game comes under Interprovincial Lottery Corporation, an alliance of five regional or provincial lottery corporations.

HISTORY OF LOTTO 649

Lotto 649 is one of two Canadian national lotteries. It was launched on June 12, 1982. The lottery broke ground in the Canadian lottery industry, as it was the first lottery to let players choose their own numbers. Previously, Canadians could only play with numbers that were pre-printed on their tickets. After this lottery broke the ice, others began following suit to gradually phase out the pre-printed method.

In September 2013, Lotto 649 increased its minimum jackpot from US$3 million to US$5 million. The game itself also got a facelift, with a new ‘Free Play’ prize when only two numbers are matched and a ‘Guaranteed Prize Draw’ where one lucky player is assured of winning US$1 million after each and every draw.

HOW TO PLAY LOTTO 649

Lotto 649 is played just as the name suggests. Pick 6 numbers from 1 to 49. A bonus number is chosen during the draw, which is relevant to the 2nd and 6th tiers of the prize breakdown.

LOTTO 649 MOST FREQUENTLY DRAWN NUMBERS

Quick Pick provides players with a stress-free way to enter Lotto 649. The computer randomly chooses your numbers for you, with a statistically greater chance of winning.

But if you are still interested in choosing your own numbers, it helps to use some frequently drawn numbers in the mix. At present, the most frequently drawn numbers for Lotto 649 are 43, 40, 47, 45, 31 and 34.

Try to avoid using numbers that are rarely drawn. The least frequently drawn numbers in Lotto 649 at present are 15, 14, 28, 6, 16 and 2.

ODD AND EVEN NUMBER SELECTION

You can refine your choice of numbers to an even greater degree by selecting the correct amount of odd and even numbers. Since 1982, tickets with the odd:even ratio of 3:3 have been drawn 1030 times. That’s a huge 33.07% of draws! Other ratios that work well are 2:4, drawn 707, or 22.7% of the time, and the 4:2 ratio has been drawn 770, or 24.72% of the time. Avoid filling in your numbers with all even numbers, as tickets such as these have only won 32 times, or 1.03% of the time in the last 33 years. All odd numbers have also only won 32 times. Choosing 1 odd number and 5 even numbers will give players a slightly higher chance of winning, with this ratio being drawn 235 times, or 7.54% of all draws. The opposite ratio, of 5 odd numbers and 1 even number, has been chosen 309, or 9.92% of the time.

A DREAM COMES TRUE WITH LOTTO 649

Maria Digel from Winnipeg is proof that it sometimes does pay to choose your own numbers, and if you fail, try, try and try again. Maria has played the same numbers for a long 30 years. Her numbers have a great deal of sentimentally attached, being the ages of her family when they arrived in Canada many decades ago. The night before Maria won the massive jackpot of $6,986,491.90 she had a dream that she won a million dollars. The next day, Maria purchased her ticket as always from her local grocery store during her weekly shop. After three decades of purchasing, her dream came true, almost 7 times over! As in her dream, she will split the money between family members, and save a little for herself for emergencies. She expressed that she wanted to continue to live a simple life.
